Hello,
My name is MacKinley McNalley, a student at Lutheran High Northwest in Rochester Michigan. I am a driven and very competitive person, both in the classroom and in athletics. I strive to be at the top of each of my classes. As a senior athlete, I have been captain of both the tennis (4 years) and golf (3 years) teams for the school. I strive to support my coaches as well as the teams I am on to the best of my ability continually volunteering to take on additional responsibility.
I have been playing tennis since I was 3 years old and started playing competitively when I was 8 years old. I've had many wins in USTA, ITA, UTR, local, and high school tournaments. Since freshman year, I have been playing #1 singles on the Lutheran High Northwest and Clawson Co-op varsity tennis team where I experienced great success as being undefeated in conference play. In addition to winning every match in my conference during my freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior year (12-0 record), I was named Most Valuable Player in the conference and All Academic for the past three years. I also qualified for States in 2022 and 2023 as an individual player, placing 3rd in the state this year.
Today, I am on a rigorous training program for tennis, both on court and off. My routine includes playing at an academy multiple times a week where the high intensity hours include playing with some of the top juniors in Michigan and involves intense training from highly skilled and accomplished coaches. Many of the older players who participate in the summer seasons have committed Division 1 and Division 2 colleges.
On top of the academy sessions, I receive private lessons from dedicated coaches that played for Division 1 teams including North Carolina and Georgia Tech. They push me every second I am on the court with them. My coaches figure out ways to keep challenging me that directly raises my level of play.
My off-court training includes 2 to 3 days of rigorous strength, agility and speed training with a high level, experienced trainer that works with many professional, college and high performance high school athletes. After doing this for a year, I have seen a considerable amount of improvement in my overall game - particularly power and speed.
In addition to being a very accomplished singles player, I also enjoy and am very skilled at playing doubles.
Because of everything I mentioned above, I feel that I will be an asset to any college tennis program. You will be hard pressed to find someone as dedicated to improving ones skills as well as a "team player" that encourages and supports their team like I do.
Sincerely,
MacKinley
