Ricky Sanchez '11 Recruiting Profile

Hello, I'm Ricky Sanchez, a senior at Cibola High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am 5ft 9inches tall and 135 pounds (and growing) with athletic abilities. I am very quick on the tennis court, but also fortunate to have very impressive endurance. Academically, I am currently ranked 3rd in my class with a 4.45 GPA. During my junior year in high school, I won third place in singles in the New Mexico State Championships in the 5A division. I also won district in singles two years in a row (sophomore and junior year). One of my very important qualities is actually my lack of experience on the tennis court. I first picked up a tennis racquet when I was twelve years old and have improved so rapidly in my five years of experience. I attribute my improvement to my positive attitude and my strong work ethic. I believe that I have a high level of potential and will continue to improve rapidly during my years in college. I can offer leadership to any program because a leader should lead by example, and my work ethic and attitude will inspire my teammates to be their best at all times. I will also provide passion to any tennis team because unlike a lot of players, I still absolutely love tennis and have the greatest passion for the sport. I would prefer to attend a college in Arizona, Texas, or California because the weather there is ideal--the hotter the better. I am open to all types of schools--Division 1,2, or 3 colleges interest me. I am also open to any size of school because I can envision myself at a large school, like my high school, or a smaller school for a change -- I adapt quickly and easily to the circumstances around me. I am a religious person, so obviously any christian/catholic college is great, but not a must. I am very interested in medicine so I will likely major in pre-med or any equivalent. I believe that red-shirting is a good idea for my first year in college to allow my skill level to rise, and this would also allow me more time to mature mentally and physically. I am confident that I will make a positive impact on any team. With my work ethic and potential level there is no telling how successful I will be in tennis, but I am confident that I can be incredible.
