My goal is to attend a college with a strong academic program and a competitive tennis team. Throughout my life I have struggled with dyslexia and speech and language impairment. Although I live with an IEP, it does not define who I am. I worked very hard in all parts of my life to overcome these challenges. I strongly believe tennis has been a very important part of my life and has helped me face the other challenges I encounter. It has given me the ability to tackle all the obstacles I face with confidence. I am also a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I have been dedicating myself to tennis and Tae Kwon Do since I was 7 years old. I believe it shows my dedication and follow through personality.
In school, I excel in math, and I want to major in aerospace, mechanical engineering or sport management in college. I’ve also excelled with my varsity tennis team, playing first doubles as a freshman and third singles as a sophomore. In my upcoming junior year, I am going work extremely hard and aim to play first singles and be captain for the varsity team. Our team has been undefeated the last 2 years and won the New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association Championships during those 2 years. I hope to work hard and help my team win another championship this year. In addition to tennis and Tae Kwon Do, I also participate in different activities like golf and short-distance track. Whether I am in the classroom, participating in tennis, or doing many other activities, I am respectful and a very hard worker. Even though I am just starting the UTR competitions late as a junior, I am going to try and play as much as I can to get into the right college and play tennis at the highest level I can.
