My name is Branden Lien and I have been running in various forms since third grade. Whether it be a Thanksgiving turkey trot or the AIA State Championships, I always find myself running. I started my high school running career with Cross Country my freshman year, running 17:32 for five kilometers. After losing my freshman Track season due to covid, I found myself switching from distance to sprints/mid-distance. My sophomore year, I participated in the 4x400 and even won State Championships with a time of 3:25.
After such a high performance sophomore year, I found myself wanting more gold medals, more wins, and faster times. Part of my goal was reached by dropping my 400m time to 52.3 seconds, but faced a hip flexor injury midway through the season. Although I felt unsatisfied with my improvement, I focused all my effort on the 4x400, consequently winning back-to-back state titles.
Going into my senior year track season, my goals and expectations are higher than ever and I fully plan on living out every single one of them. Being injured last season lit a fire inside my heart to push myself to become the best I can be since I could not take full advantage of every season I have been given. One of these goals is to commit to a school and continue my Track career at the next level. Keep an eye on Branden Lien this season.
