I fell in love with running as I walked on to the podium at state my sophomore year. As my passion seemed to peak, at the climax of my junior year, I was put out of commission for almost a month with bronchitis. My fight back since then has been harder then ever, and as my confidence returned, my work ethic and determination to win increased tenfold. I will be early to practice. I won't go the extra mile; I'll run it.
My aspirations for this season are to continue pioneering our DII program to new heights; I am our first section champion, our highest individual state placement, and soon, I hope to shatter three school records on the track, and qualify for track nationals. My low mileage, especially with respect to my times, is my strongest quality. Every night before I go to bed, I glance over at my poster of Steve Prefontaine and my Irish National 3000 medal before reaffirming that I will tear up Hayward field when I step foot on its track in June. I will not be the next Cole Hocker; I will be the first Conor McGlynn.
