Gabriel Huff '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello, My name is Gabriel Huff and I am from Ledyard, Connecticut. I have been competing for Ledyard High School's cross country and track teams since sophomore year. Since my first day running in fall of 2021, I have seen huge improvement, starting off with and 8:20 mile and now, just over a year later, I run a 4:54 mile. I also currently have run a 16:51 in a road 5K, an 18:20 at the Connecticut state meet (scoring 23rd place), and a 2:11 800 meter. Perhaps my most impressive mark, though, was at a road race this past November, where I ran the 5.5 mile course in 31:59 (averaging 5:48 pace).  I stand out on my team as one of the hardest working and quickest improving members. This past season, I was also named one of three captains on our XC team. I have helped younger members of the team stay on track and improve. I lead by example, as I never make excuses for a poor performance and always strive to improve myself. I have also taken karate lessons for nearly ten years, and fenced for two years. I am a bit of a history buff, and I perform well in all my studies, with a cumulative GPA of 4.81. I am interested in majoring in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Archeology, or any number of history courses. I would love to compete at the competitive D1 or D2 level in college alongside my studies, and continue to compete post-collegiately. Please consider reaching out.
