Courtney McDermott '23 Recruiting Profile

Some information about me:  I am registered in the NCAA eligibility center.  My primary sport is track and field. I currently compete in throwing the Shot-put and Discus for my high school and I also compete nationally under a private Track Club, Philadelphia Express TC. I am currently the Delaware State champion for Discus; 1^st Team All-State; with a PR of 168-2.  I am ranked 3^rd in Shot-put; 3^rd Team All-State; with a PR of 52-1.  I am also the 2022 Mid-Atlantic District and Regional Club Champion for both Shot-put and Discus. I competed at the 2022 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympic Games, which is a competition that I have been competing in for 6 years prior and secured an All-American title in the discus at the championships placing in the top 8. Within the realm of my academics, I am deeply invested in my education. I am enrolled in courses under my school’s International Baccalaureate (IB) program, and I am taking AP and Honors courses.  I play the Cello in my school’s Orchestral music program, and I participate in the Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) program. I am seen as a student leader, was awarded my school’s PRIDE award for demonstrating expected behaviors outstandingly, have made honor roll, and have been honored for outstanding punctuality.
