I have committed to Wake Forest University
My name is Luke Tewalt. I am in the class of 2020 at Washington Latin Public Charter School in Washington, D.C. In high school my goals are to run as close as I can to a sub 4-minute mile and to maintain a GPA of 3.6 or better.
I would be a strong candidate for a running program because I am extremely focused, goal oriented and coachable. These attributes have enabled me to skip a grade, set an AAU national record, and set numerous school records, all while being an honor roll student in as many honors classes I can take.
Even with exams and schoolwork focusing the majority of my time on my future, running keeps me focused on the present. On the track or trail all that matters is trying to accomplish a personal best time and putting my best effort forward.
I want to run in college while being set up to achieve my goals outside of athletics, namely becoming a doctor or medical researcher. The college I would like to attend will have a strong program in biological sciences and a strong running program. With a coach who can mold me into an even better athlete and a school that sets me up academically, I will become a more developed person and decorated athlete.
