My name is Daniel Craig, and my goal is to be the fastest man in the world. People have always told me that I couldn’t or should be more realistic with my future, but I said, “Forget them,” and continued pursuing my dream. My high school track experience has been different from most. During my freshman and sophomore years, I ran the 1600m and 800m. In my junior year, I ran the 800m, 400m, and 4x400m. During this time, I set a new 800m record and brought my 400m time down from 58 seconds to 52.80 seconds, setting another new school record. When I first ran it, everyone was in shock and couldn’t believe it, but deep down, I knew I could get faster with the right training. Our 4x400m team made it all the way to regionals that year, setting yet another school record. Now, in my senior year, I run the 400m, 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m. I broke the 200m school record and plan on breaking the rest of them as well. With all my years of experience in track, I can also help my teammates get faster by assisting with their form or giving them speed drills to work on outside of practice. I truly believe that I can be the fastest man in the world, and I will be. But first, I have to get into college. I’ve been an A/B honor roll student since my freshman year with a GPA of 3.8, so I am confident that no matter how hard the curriculum is, I can pass.
