I have ran Cross Country since seventh grade and Track since my freshman year of high school. During my time running, I've learned a lot about myself and what it takes to be successful. I know that despite how fast I run and how many seconds I shave off my times, it will never be enough to stop me from wanting to improve myself. In every race, I push myself to be better than the last.
My personal goal is to run competitively at the college level. This is a dream that I have had for a long time. I would be the first in my family to play sports at the college level. This goal may be quite ambitious, but I feel that with the right amount of effort, I am capable of achieving this goal.
I know to accomplish these goals, I have to be dedicated. I have to not only work hard at practice, but also during times when I am out of season. In the winter and summer, I am constantly running to maintain and improve my body and mind, so that I have both the physical and mental endurance to thrive when the time comes to run a race. I continually increase the intensity of my workouts to further develop skills that I have fought tooth and nail for. I know that to achieve my goals, I have to work harder than everyone else.
I also realize that physical performance is not everything. I know it is in my best interest to challenge myself academically, so that I will be successful in college and in life. I maintain a high GPA while enrolled in honors and advanced placement classes, as well as being in groups such as National Honors Society and Interact Club. I also do my best to give back to my community by volunteering. For example, I help at the local assisted living center, I place crosses throughout my town to honor veterans during Memorial and Veteran's Day, and I am a youth leader at Dahlonega United Methodist Church.
Running Cross Country and Track in college has been my dream since I started running in seventh grade. Being a college student and athlete will undoubtedly be difficult, but I am up for the challenge. I am passionate and determined. I am a runner. I don't give up. Anyone who knows me, or has seen me race, can see my level of passion and determination. I am very coachable, I work hard, and I will do what it takes to accomplish my goals.
