Stephen Evensen '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5'10'' sprinter from Arlington Heights, IL and will graduate in 2012. My goal is to compete in college track and football at the highest level and program that I can. I have been doing everything I can to improve my speed, athleticism, and strength and put myself in the best possible position to succeed. During the summer of 2009, before my sophomore year, and from November through January, after football season, I went to Tommy Z's Pure Speed Sports Clinic. Here, I did drills to increase my speed, power, agility, acceleration, and conditioning. The camp is run by Tommy Zbikowski, a former track and football standout at Buffalo Grove High School. He ran a 10.5 100 meter, a 4.35 40 yard dash, and has numerous school records in both track and football. He was an All-American safety at Notre Dame and was drafted in the 3rd Round of the 2008 NFL draft. He made the Pro Bowl last year for Special Teams. The drills at his clinic are similiar to those that Zbikowski did in high school to improve his speed. I have been in the weight room lifitng as much as possible and have made significant strength gains. My bench press is 240 lbs, my power clean is 220 lbs, my push press is 235 lbs, my trap bar deadlift is 400 lbs, and my squat is 360 lbs. This past track season I had several highlights which included; running a split fast enough for our 4 by 200 meter relay to potentially break the school record, taking 2nd place in the MSL East Divison in the 100 meter dash for frosh/soph, and most of all, running the best time at the Mid-Suburban League Frosh/Soph Championship meet in the 200 meter dash. I have taken numerous AP and honors classes at Buffalo Grove High School. On my AP tests, I scored 4 in Human Geography and 4 in World History. On the IACT, taken my sophomore year, I scored a 29. With a 28 in English, Mathematics, and Science Reasoning, and a 33 in Reading. On a 5.0 scale, my GPA is 4.64. I know that I can bring dedication and commitment to a college program an am doing everyting I can to compete in college track at the highest level possible.
