I first started running for a track team in 7th grade at my Junior High school, and since then I have been in love with the sport and all it has given me. There is something incomparable to the feeling of crossing the finish line, knowing I gave my best effort in a race, practice, or workout. The sport has allowed me to reflect upon myself and grow as a person. I have learned the true dedication it takes in order to achieve one's goals; including, the memories and success from my team and my individual performances are unforgettable. Not qualifying for the State Championships in my sophomore year taught me that one can never work too hard and that times to hit are not always set in stone. I know that my work ethic, charisma, and willingness to succeed are personalities of mine that certify that I am ready for the next level of competition and a new athletic experience. I would like to continuously stay motivated in my studies as well, enabling me to have a bright future beyond the track. I am always thinking about what I can do to succeed every day, whether that be in the classroom or running around the oval. Being a board member on the National Honor Society and continuously marking on the high honor roll are qualifications I pride myself on.
I have learned through running that one has to run with their heart, which is something that one cannot coach. I often ask myself why I run, compared to the dozens of other sports available, and it is because I feel like it is where I belong. I want to be great. I run for my family, friends, and my aspirations for the future which I know I can achieve with my strong will. I do not compare to other recruits in the way I love the sport I play and the good moral character I possess. The leadership role I have on my team is to not only push myself as an athlete and student but also the underclassmen on my team as well. I am extremely excited to run for a collegiate program and have the characteristics to allow myself to be a leader on any team I may be on. The anxiety and stress many get as a result of running come as exciting to me, as I am grateful for the opportunity to do what I am best at. I would like to push my future team towards succession, whether that be a new team title or championship, as well as create long-lasting relationships with my teammates and coaches.
