Personal Statement
My freshman and sophomore years were challenging with seasons canceled or reduced by covid and overcoming an injury, but I put in the extra effort last year to make up for lost time. My junior year was a vast improvement on both previous years. With a new head coach, I captained my team to state qualification in three events. I earned All-State honors as the first leg of my school's 4x100 as well as All-Conference honors in the 110H. Over the summer I competed in two decathlons. With minimal coaching in high jump, pole vault, and throws, I was able to finish 15th in the USATF Junior Olympics meet. Off the track I played soccer for three years and kicked for my school's football team for two.
Away from sports I am in multiple leadership roles, including as the president of Interact and a peer mentor for Goodwill Good Guides. My involvement with school clubs and sports teams has allowed me to build relationships with diverse people.
I was diagnosed with ADD during my Junior year. Though it had been difficult, I am proud of how I managed school without treatment and how I have improved my performance with treatment.
I have always loved sports, and I hope that I will be able to continue competing in track and field after high school.
