The sport of track and field plays a very massive role in my life, shaping me into the person I am today. Growing up, I was not the most athletic kid. I played soccer, football, basketball, and even karate but never seemed to enjoy the sports. It wasn't until my parents enrolled me in a track club that I finally began to enjoy my time in athletic activity. Not only did I build a genuine passion for sprinting, but I also discovered that I excelled as a sprinter more so than in any other sport I had tried.
It was clear at a young age that athletics did not come naturally to me. Despite not being the most naturally athletically gifted, I work extremely hard every day, both on and off the track and even harder on the track. I don't let natural ability deter me whatsoever, nor do I let it stop me from achieving my goals. I am ambitious, very hard-working, responsible, and consistent. When I have an objective set out for me, I tunnel vision to get the job done, as it is a natural part of who I am.
Sure, I may be a track and field sprinter, but off the track, I work tooth and nail in the classroom and do not take my academics lightly. Sprinting is not the only thing I am passionate about or capable of achieving. In my free time, I dedicate myself to writing screenplays and, for the most part, working on personal novels that I have been writing for years. These long-time creative projects are passions I plan to pursue in the near future. I also love playing basketball with my father at our local gym after I finish my weight training workouts, which I do to help me increase my performance on the track.
I like to focus on things that benefit me, like my education, the novel I'm writing, Track and Field, my family, and, most importantly, Jesus Christ. I see friends, girlfriends, parties, and social life as secondary to my goals. Those are the things I value most in life, and that guide me in the direction I want to be in.
