Treycen Garton '22 Recruiting Profile

I am a senior at Newton Highschool in Newton Iowa.  I am interested in participating in Track & Field at the collegiate level at a college that stands out for academic excellence particularly in the areas of Civil, Chemical, and Software Engineering.  I have had a successful athletic career at Newton Highschool in both Cross Country  and Track qualifying for the 3A state meet two years in Cross Country and my junior track season in 3 events.  I am a mid/distance runner specializing in 400s and 800s, but am also very versatile.  I do not have many individual times for my junior year as my track coach relied on me heavily for success in our relays.  My splits in the 400 range from mid 50s to 52 and 800 range from 2:00 to 2:02.  My only recorded individual 800 time was from early in the season.  My 4 x 800 team also qualified and placed 8th at the Drake Relays last year.  

In addition to my athletic success, I am also a leader both on and off the track.  I have been a team Captain the past 2 years in Cross Country and last year in track.  I am also a top performing student, ranked 1st in my graduating class with a 4.0 GPA and am currently a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist.  I received Academic All Conference honors in basketball last year and Academic All State in Cross Country this year. 

Above all else, I am coachable, driven,  and a great teammate being voted as best teammate by both my track coach and peers last year.  My track, Cross Country, and basketball coaches have all written me excellent recommendations.  I would be happy to have them forward the letters to you if you are interested.
