Personal Statement
Growing up I always dreamed of playing football. I started playing football in 5th grade and had played all the way through my sophomore year. In my sophomore year I had a really good track season and found a lot of success in distance running. After a few discussions with my coaches and family I decided to make the switch to cross country. I walked onto the cross-country team, and I quickly found success and immediately became one of our top 5 runners on the varsity team. Unfortunately, a few months into my cross-country season I suffered from a stress fracture in my shin which put me out for the rest of the season. Although I was not able to compete, I was able to make it to every practice and meet to cheer on my teammates and offer support. Since then, I have been able to bounce back from this setback and had a successful junior track season. I was 1st team all-conference in the 4x800 and the 1600 and qualified for state in the 4x800 and the 800. As a team we were conference champions, district champions and put up a good number of points in the state meet. During my Senior Cross-Country Season, I had a great year. I was 1st team all-conference and qualified for state as an individual and as a team. Near the end of my season, I ran a Mile time trial and ran a 4:34. Now that I am coming off of my cross-country season, I am training for track pretty hard working on keeping my endurance up and incorporating speed work. I have big goals for my final high school track season.
