This 2023 season will be my second year running track and doing hurdles. I've played sports all my life and first decided to run track as a way to stay in shape and be involved in a community, and I immediately fell in love with both. I love the sense of community and involvement created by sports teams and I think that track took that to a further extent. Something about hitting a new PR, or having a great practice whether that is running extra fast, or feeling even better going over hurdles, just makes track an incredible experience for me that I want to replicate as much as possible. I hope, in college, to be able to continue this involvement in sports and the community and continue growing as a runner, and a teammate.
One of my favorite memories from track came from last spring season, when I had a stress reaction on my left shin from overuse; I was completely devastated. However, during this time, I watched a lot of videos on hurdling and did a lot of stretching in hopes that when I returned I could have improved a lot in my time not running. Sure enough, when I returned I managed to 3-step a hurdle at a regular distance for the first time ever and beat my 110m hurdle PR by over a second.
