Personal Statement
As a long distance runner, you can't slack on the miles or workouts. If you do, you won't get results or improve your performance. When I know that I have a hard track workout, a long run, and a good amount of school work, then I just have to make time to get it all done. I have to create a balance. That commitment must continue in the off season or days when there is no practice - I make that commitment to myself and team to continue to work hard and make progress.
A strong commitment and dedication is important for my teams too. As an 8th grader, I was on the Varsity cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field teams for my high school. And I finished my 8th grade Cross Country and Track seasons as an Mid-Wachusett League All-Star. As a freshman. this past fall, the 2018 cross country season, I was the most experienced member of a team with no upper classmen. I acted as a leader for this young team - leading warm-ups, practices and setting an example for my teammates. And in the 2018-1019 indoor season, I was the fourth highest point scorer on the indoor track team.
I am grateful for the people who push me on and off the track. All my coaches and teachers have helped me get to this level and I appreciate them. And I am looking for that right balance, commitment and support in the future. I do think I could compete at a high level of competition, as I continue to make progress in academics and athletics.
