Personal Statement
Something I take a lot of pride in is my work ethic, as is shown by my improvements in the past couple of seasons. In cross country, in one year I took my 5k PR from a 19:26 to a 17:33. I have pushed myself in the offseason more than I ever have before and it is paying off. I now train year-round so that I never get out of shape and I am able to continue to get stronger and faster. After seeing so much improvement in cross country this year, I anticipate a very strong track season. With tough goals, a rigorous training schedule, and a strong will to improve, I believe that I will continue to see better and better times in the next couple of years.
This year I have been given the honor of being selected team captain by my teammates for cross country. As a sophomore on a team of upperclassmen, this means a lot to me. Running, either in cross country or track, is still very much a team sport and I enjoy being a source of support and encouragement for my fellow athletes.
My academics are another source of pride for me, I currently have a 4.0 while taking Honors classes. In preparation for college, I have taken the PSAT and the ACT. The ACT score you see in my profile was taken in the 7th grade as part of an academic talent search by Duke.
