I am a mid-distance runner and sprinter, hoping to find a college with a great team where I can contribute and commit to. I am also very interested in, and would like to study Exercise Science. My track & field career began in 9th grade. I started out as a distance runner because I was just starting out, and I was instructed to run distance. Then the coaches saw that I was better at mid-distance, so instead of running 3200m and 1600m, I started running 800m and 400m and changed my training habits accordingly. After spending an indoor season with a local track club, my coaches saw potential in me in sprinting when I competed in my first 200m dash. Since then, I’ve been working on training for speed by improving my form and technique, and spending time in the weight room to get stronger. Currently I feel I am best with the 200m and 400m, but I am always open to suggestions and learning other events.
I personally believe that I have a lot of untapped potential and can be a good addition to a team. This is because I was not fortunate enough to have had experienced coaches during my high school career. Each season I had a different coach and they were basically volunteers. However, I used this experience as a way to learn how to become a leader, and be an essential part of my team.
