I played many sports growing up, including soccer, baseball, pop warner football, wrestling, and cross country. In middle school and into my Freshmen year I started to focus on track and football. I love both sports and feel like I can grow and develop into a top competitor throughout my High School career and into college.
As a sophomore, I was the only athlete from my school to play varsity football on Friday night, and I got to jump varsity in the Triple and Long Jump as a freshman also. I believe that these opportunities came because of my work ethic, determination, and teachability. I listen to what our coaches teach us and put it into practice. I believe in developing great instincts as well as being a technician and a prepared athlete. I focus on my nutrition, and on showing up to practice with the same mindset as I do for competitions/games- to grow and get better.
I work hard at not just preparing my body to compete, but my mind also. I get great grades, and I research and study to be a great scholar and a student of my game. There may be more physically gifted athletes than me, but I work to ensure that no one is better prepared than me.
I am hoping to get my degree in Sports Medicine at college and when I am unable to compete anymore, make a difference in helping athletes understand their bodies and recover from injury. For me, it is all connected, my athletic career and my future are woven together in my desire to understand our bodies and how to develop not just our minds but the role our bodies play in our whole person.
