I’ve always been a three sport athlete and played baseball in the spring. This past spring (2016), I was excited to try something new and put my athletic ability in Track & Field. Through many years of playing basketball, I believe I have developed my above average jumping ability. I joined the Hopkinton High School Track and Field team and decided to try the high jump. Our high school does not have a track or jumping equipment, but I was still able to achieve a personal record of 6 feet 5 inches within two months after my first jump of 5 feet 6 inches. I set a goal for myself to jump 6 feet by the end of the season. On June 11, I jumped my personal record of 6 feet 5 inches at the New England Interscholastic Track and Field Championship and came in Fourth Place.
With more experience and practice, I will continue to work hard and raise the bar in my next two seasons.
My goal is to be a Track and Field Student Athlete at a Division I college. I don’t just want to make a team; I want to make a team better. I want to work with coaches who will help me reach new heights. I feel like this is a very realistic goal because of my athletic ability, coachability, and my work ethic.
