Personal Statement
My name is Cailey Stockwell, and I will be a junior this fall at Hopkinton High School in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. I have been swimming competitively since I was 7 years old. I currently swim for the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Jct, VT, and for my high school swim team. This upcoming winter will be my first year competing for UVAC. I spent the last 8 years swimming for the Concord YMCA Sailfish Team, and I decided to make the switch in order to improve my times and technique. Due to being on the same team for several years, I felt as if I wasn't reaching my full potential. I knew I had to make a change and increase my commitment if I wanted to improve in this sport. Switching to UVAC has given me the chance to be surrounded by swimmers that have similar goals as myself. It has also given me the opportunity to receive new suggestions from several coaches regarding my strokes and strategies of my races.
Balancing academics and athletics is very important to me. I am a 3 varsity sport athlete at my high school. I run cross country in the fall, swim in the winter, and run track in the spring. I have achieved High Honors all semesters in both 9th and 10th grade, and I have been involved in many clubs and extracurriculars. I have received several academic and athletic awards and I take pride in representing my school and town. I enjoy challenging myself academically by taking some of the hardest classes my school offers, mixing AP classes with many Honors classes. I have maintained a GPA of 94.73 out of 100. I would love to major in nursing to eventually become a pediatric nurse practitioner. I love medicine and helping young children feel better. I am very dedicated and hard-working, and I think swimming in college would give me an opportunity to challenge myself in ways I have never known.
