Here's a little bit about my progression
Freshmen year: 5k: 26:30 (xc) 3200: 11:29 1600: 5:12.
Sophomore year: 5k: 17:30 (xc) 3200: 10:00 1600: 4:47. Cherokee challenge 2 mile (xc): 11:11
Junior year: 5k: 15:59 (xc) 3200: 9:19 1600: 4:22. Cherokee challenge 2 mile (xc): 10:21
Senior year so far... 5k: 15:29 (xc): Cherokee challenge 2 mile (xc): 9:51
As you can tell I have progressed extremly quickly throughout my high school years and it is a trend that will only continue. I have had an extremely good summer training, being by far the best training block I have ever had. I have only got 2 races in so far this xc season, and have already cut 30 seconds off my 2 mile cherokee challenge time in 1 year, as well as 30 seconds off my 5k time in 10 months. I have done only tempos and thresholds as workouts up to this point and am no where near peak performance.
The reason I have progressed so quickly is because of a balance of training smart and a strong desire to get better. I have extremely big goals this senior year, and believe that a pattern can be seen throughout my high school years that indicates a big breakout year.
