I have always enjoyed running and participated in the local running camps and clubs when I was younger. In middle school, I competed in cross country and track and field. In my freshman year of high school, I knew track and field would be the sport I focused on. And not too long into the winter season of freshman year, I found my event. I was immediately competitive as a freshman in the hurdles and with great coaching and intense training I have improved my form, speed, endurance, and mindset. I was able to medal in the 55m, 110m, and 400m hurdles at many meets, including winning first place in the 110m and 400m hurdles at the Bergen County freshman championships. In my sophomore year, I was the sectional champion in the 55mh, setting a new school record in that event in addition to qualifying for Nike Indoor Nationals. During the spring season, I was able to qualify for the Group Championships in both the 110mh and 400mh. I am confident that with continued effort my times will improve to meet the standards of the top college teams.
In addition to athletics, I am also an excellent student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. Maintaining a high GPA and learning are just as important to me as excelling on the track. Hard work, focus, and determination are all characteristics that are required to succeed on and off the track. I plan on continuing to be successful both athletically and academically over the next two years of high school, with the goal of becoming a prominent student-athlete at college when I graduate.
