My name is Marty Brophy and I think i would be an excellent addition to your program. I am a rising senior in the class of 2023 from Princeton NJ. I have a love for running that is always pulling me towards the sport and in addition an equally strong passion for winning. As Milesplit has it my PRs are:
800 Meter Run2:08.90
1500 Meter Run4:17.74
1600 Meter Run4:33.30
3200 Meter Run9:59.83
CC
5000 Meter Run16:08.95
In my opinion my milesplit does not do justice to my accomplishments and athleticism. Before the junior track season I had ruled out myself as someone who couldn’t run the 800… but after finding success in our teams 4x8 I had run 2:01 splits twice and for one of those running +9 splits (I know that’s not good). For the 1600m I gained a PR in every race except for one, which make me thinks I still had plenty of time to shave off. In the 3200 I ran my PR coming off of a double and unfortunately bleeding through my spikes. In the XC meet of champions to help my team to a 6th place finish as the 2nd runner I ran a 16:52. It is also worth mentioning that it was on the infamous Holmdel course, one which is definitely slow, and by my coaches account up to 30 seconds. In my first race of the 2022 XC season I ran a 33 second PR, which I am totally stoked about and ready to drop even further. We are also a decently low mileage team, and I am happy to say I have been injury free throughout high school. I grateful to be gifted in running, but I am also proud of my accolades away from time. I have received All-county team 2x, won our teams coaches award, won the teams “Nobody tougher” award, and all-area team once. I also hold myself to high standards in the classroom keeping a 3.83 unweighted and 4.05 weighted GPA. While I am interested in running at the college level, it is important to note that I wrestle during the winter season in high school, hence no winter track times. I think I would be an excellent addition to any program because I bring with me a grinder, winning mentality which is contagious to the rest of the team.
Any response is greatly appreciated,
Marty Brophy ‘23
