Robby Cerra '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi Coaches!  My name is Rob, and I have been running since the age of 9, clocking in my first 5k race in under 29 minutes.  (http://www.bestrace.com/results/13/130615OG5.HTM)  Since then, I have run many more races, furthering my competitive nature and passion for the sport.  Initially, I raced in 5k races, ran cross country, and then moved to shorter distances through middle school.  I joined Pure Acceleration Track Club, a top tier running club based in New Jersey, in 8th grade.  I competed at the regional level with AAU and USATF, and qualified for both indoor and outdoor Nationals, running the 400m, 800m, and 1500m.  

I then began my high school running career, joining the Cross Country team.  In freshman year, though my season was hindered by shin splints, I PR'd at 20:40.  I then joined the Winter Track team and later competed in Spring Track, earning my Varsity Letter.  Unfortunately, my Sophomore Track season was cut short due to COVID, ending my chances of being a 4-year Varsity Letter holder.  

During quarantine, I continued to better myself and specifically trained for my events, by working out almost every day in my home gym.

Now in Junior year, I keep myself in shape by playing high school football, bettering my foot speed and explosiveness which can directly benefit me in my track career in the Spring.  

Looking to the future, I would like to further my athletic AND academic career by competing in track at college, while studying to eventually attend law school.
