Benjamin Stein '17 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing sports my whole life. From a young age, I thrived in a variety of environments: from gymnastics, to soccer to basketball. This gave me an excellent foundation for future sports. I was the starting goalie for my town's travel team, winning three championships in five years. I also started as power forward for my town's travel basketball team as well as my freshmn basketball team, where I was voted the MVP of the team. I also started on my AAU team, the CMEK Hornets, where we came in 8th in the state. In addition to my work on the field, I have pursued many endeavors off the field. I have maintained a good average in school my whole life and I play the classical piano as well as the saxophone. 
After giving up soccer my freshman year of high school, I joined the cross country team. Immediately, I  was running with the varsity runners. I worked very hard and trained almost every day and became only the 3rd freshman runner in my school's history to break 18 minutes in the 5k. Doing this sparked my love for running. When it came time for track season, I knew I could accomplish great things, and I did. I placed in numerous meets in jumping and running events, never lost in any freshman meet in the triple jump, and was voted the Bergen County freshman track athlete MVP. But I believe I have only scratched the surface. For this upcoming spring track season, I have been training and working hard while still playing on my school's basketball team. I love track and that's what fuels me during every run and every workout, and that's what gives me the strength to give it my all every day that I'm out on the track.
