I've always been interested in sports, but it wasn't until I joined an Obstacle Course Racing gym nearly 7 years ago that I really found my passion. When I joined I couldn't do a pushup or pullup and was put in all the lowest level classes. I don't know if it was my pride or if I had just finally found a sport I truly cared about, but I worked my butt off and with a year I was on the gym's world class competitive team. Being on this team developed in me a passion for working hard and also a taste for competing at a very high level. While on this competitive team I qualified for 5 Obstacle Course Racing World Championships and competed in 4 of them. In addition to allowing me to compete at a world class level for the first time, OCR also gave me my first job. A few summers ago I earned an ACTION Personal Training Certification and an Ultimate Ninja Athlete Coach Certification which, ironically enough, allows me to now coach the very same competitive team I worked so hard to get onto in the first place. With me as head coach, the team has placed well with a few of my students even placing top 5 in the world at the 2022 Ultimate Ninja World Championships. Being so involved with ninja kind of dissuaded me from doing high school sports, but in my senior year I finally decided to give running a try. I did ok in Cross Country and even qualified for state with my varsity team, but Track was where I really felt at home. I think my OCR training gave me a little bit of a head start, because despite having no sprinting experience, at all I started winning competitions right off the bat. With a total of 11 first place races, 4 second place races, 7 third place races, and three state medals in my very first year of sprinting I started to fall in love with Track. When it came time to decide what sport to pursue in college, the choice was simple. As much as I loved Obstacle Course Racing there are just no college teams that do it. In addition, ever since my first race at my first meet where I took first in the 400m, I knew there was no going back. It is my dream to one day do as well in Track and Field as I have already done in OCR. Now, all I need is a team to help me do it.
