As a Freshman I started running cross country because I wanted to stay in shape for the baseball season. My first 5k was a 22:01 on the JV team. I finished my season at a 19:11 on the varsity team.
By the time spring arrived I had to make the decision between baseball and track, and easily chose track. I grew a lot during winter track as a runner, trying multiple events and I found myself excelling in the 1600 and 3200.
Then I missed my first spring track season due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Over the course of the pandemic I saw it as an opportunity to develop as a runner, and return the next season better.
As a Sophomore I finished Cross Country with a 16:41 5k, with All County Honors. I ran a full 2 mile time of 10:01 and a 1600 time of 4:42 during my spring season. The rapid improvement over the past seasons have only motivated me to work harder and see what else I am capable of in the future.
Grades are just as important to me as running. I apply the same diligent effort into my academics as I do into my athletics. I am searching for a college where I can grow as an athlete and a student, with dedicated teammates, professors and coaches.
