My name is Tony Taylor II and I am a rising senior at Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. My aspirations are to obtain a degree in Communications then further my career path by attending Law School.
As a student athlete at Leesville, I participated on the football team (defensive end & special teams) and the track & field team. For track & field, I compete in the Shot Put and Discus field events. The 2022 outdoor track season began with an awesome start for our team and continued to improve throughout the season. As captain of the throws team, it was exciting to assist my teammates with reaching their personal goals. Over the course of this season, I was able to gain personal growth and improvement since last year as well. Recently, I was blessed with the honor of setting new school records in both shot put and discus. In 2021, I was honored to represent my high school in the State 4A Championships for both Shot Put and Discus.
Outside of school, I studied karate for over 8 years and achieved the rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt before the age of 16. During that time, I was a member of the Black Belt Club, Demo team and the Leadership program. I was also certified as an assistant instructor to train lower ranked belts and coach them to the next level.
Through sports and martial arts, I have built a strong character with the humility to lead, serve and inspire teamwork. I developed and maintained a strong work ethic that began at the age of 7 when I started studying karate then throughout middle school sports and continuing into high school athletics. I believe the discipline required for both sports and martial arts created in me the integrity, perseverance and indomitable spirit to strive for the best and to support the success of my team.
I am excited about advancing my educational and athletic potential while contributing to the track & field family as a thrower at the collegiate level.
