Personal Statement

Dear Coaches,

I take tremendous pride in being a well-rounded individual athletically and academically. I have been competing at club/travel level in hockey, baseball and track and field while achieving 95% average throughout my 3 years of high school.  My academic achievements are focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) enriched stream.

I discovered the love for competitive track and field in my freshman year. Although I lacked formal club training and experience at the time, I was still able to qualify for the high school regional championships and qualified to compete at the Ontario Summer Games.

I joined the York University Track Club in the spring of 2022.  I have since qualified for the provincial high school cross country and track and field championships. I have also competed at the Canadian Indoor and outdoor National Championships.

As a Junior, I received the honor of being named captain of the varsity cross country team and track and field team.

I have dedicated my athletic endeavors towards track and field and focus on academics. I am a student of the game who studies forms, regimen, videos, training, and science towards achieving my optimal performance. I incorporated many of these aspects to my continuous improvement and development process. I have always been a very coachable athlete because of my commitment for improvements to be my best and competing with the very best. This has become my personal mantra.

My experience in sports have shaped my competitive nature, leadership, self-discipline and focus towards achieving individual and team success.

I believe I have so much untapped potential in life. I am hoping to have the privilege to train and learn with coaches and athletes who will enable me to compete with the very best while attending a reputable university to achieve a degree in computer science.
