Awards and Activities

  • AwardsI want to be a professional track runner I have working so hard and to be the best runner for therefore it is my favorite sport for it my achieve for I do know that it will help me one day of my life and my family isnā€™t easily available for me to give up my dream to be šŸ˜
  • ActivitiesTHE EASY ROAD BY MUTOMBO MY JOURNEY OF RUNNING I remember overseeing taking care of my family's animals. In my family, we had pigs and goats because they used to help us with buying foods when we sell them. When they wanted to sell any animal at home, they used to send me to catch them because the animal used to be outside during the day, so I used to search for them. I remember getting hurt from the grasses in the bush because the pig went running there, but no matter how fast it was, I could still catch it and I didn't use to give up so easily. I would fight until I got what I wanted. The ground used to change, sometimes it rained and sometimes it was dry, so it depends on the weather. I used to fall on the ground when I was chasing the animals, especially when it rained. When it dried, I could get hurt on my knees and my elbows. It was hard, but I had no choice because it was my responsibility to do it and I loved doing it. I was fast enough to catch the pig and I enjoyed running after pigs. They were running very fast, especially the small ones and biting at my ankles, which hurt awfully bad. In my mind I needed to do more. My goal was to catch the pigs no matter how fast they were. What motivated me was that selling the pigs, so I could get a new pant or new pair of shoes. When I came to the United States, I was enrolled in PE class at H.B. Lee Middle School. In 7th grade I took it for fun and then when my PE teacher saw that I was fast he asked me to join the track team, so I did. The first day on the team was not good. I wanted to communicate with my teammates, but I couldn't because my English was poor. I was happy that the coach already knew about me, so he told me after two weeks we have an invitation to play with other schools and those groups were from Reynolds Middle School and Gordon Russel Middle School. I didn't know what to do, so coach Cobblery told me that if I hear the gun shot, I can start running. When we get on the track field the ground was cool. It was a sunny day. The event was the 400-meter dash. My feet hurt because of the shoes that I was wearing. I didn't know which shoes to wear at the time. The more I participated, the better I got and since then I've fallen in love with running. My coach told me that when I hear the gun short that means to start and I kept that in my mind every time I just wanted to finish the line my heart was beating especially when there was someone that I know that was faster than me, so I kept thinking of how I could run faster than that person. What motivated me was the people who were watching us. They were shouting my name. Hearing them encouraged me to run even faster.
