Hey coaches! My first year of track was last year as a sophomore, I originally got into it to improve my athleticism as a wide receiver on my football team. I wanted to be a sprinter but the coaches told me to try the 800m and I ran surprisingly well for my first ever race. My head coach told me that I have a gift for running so I dumped football and ran cross country in its place and I fully committed to running track. I’ve made great improvements for last year and I’m hopeful on dropping my time down a lot once more before college. It was very difficult giving up football for something I would blindly walk into, I previously played football for 10 years and I have a tremendous life for the sport. I also love playing basketball, I played it competitively for 4 years and I spend a little free time shooting hoops. I got into the 400m last year when I ran a 54-second split in my 4x4 and this year was my first time running the open 400 and it’s become my strong suit as of now. The highlight so far of my high school running career was the time I went out, even though I didn’t have any competition, and ran my hardest and reached 1:59 in the 800m. After high school I plan on attending college and graduating with a degree, I really think that a career in sports marketing is best for me. Sports are a major part of my life, and have been since I first played as a young boy. A major inspiration for me continuing to run track is to bring glory to my God through a talent he has blessed me with, He is the number one motivation of mine. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my statement, it truly means a lot.
