Personal Statement

My name is Zakary Sury. I’m a 18-year-old senior from Fulshear TX. I have always loved running and competing, and it has always been a goal of mine to compete at the next level. 

Ever sense I've started running I've had the goal of working as hard as I can and take advantage of every opportunity to improve and get better.  

I love to see my teammates succeed as much as seeing myself succeed. I am coachable and I enjoy when coaches correct or cretic me because I'm always trying to get better.  

I plan on continuing to work hard at my training, improving my times, and excelling at my academics with hopes that I will be a good fit for someone's college program.

  • I was very blessed and happy to qualify to state and reach the final season goal. I was eustatic to qualify individually but disappointed that my team was not able to qualify. I ran a good race at the State where I hit a time of 16:28 for the 5K. It was an awesome experience and I'm going to work hard and try to get back to state for track.

  • I placed 10th overall with a 5K time of 16:12. My mile splits were 5:10, 5:09 (10:19), and then the final 18,00m was a 5:53. I moved up very well throughout the whole race as after the first mile I was placed in the mid 30's, and then after the second I was in 20th.

  • I qualified individually for the 3200m and the 1600m. In the 1600m I ran a PR and a school record with a 4:31. Laps splits were 1:03, 1:08, 1:10, and 1:09. I felt that I had a very strong start, but I need to improve on my finishing strength.
