Personal Statement
My name is Dominique, but everyone calls me "Nico". I have been participating in sports (soccer, football, basketball, and track) since I was 5 years old. I begin running track for my church league when I was about 7 years old. It wasn't until I was in middle school that my focus was more on football and track.
It was in 8th grade, after having grown 4 to 5 inches in less than a year a half, that my passion for track and field increased. That growth spur was the beginning of the success I would see when I joined the track and field team that year. I won 1st and 2nd place in the 110m and 300m hurdles, High and Triple Jump, and 4x400 Relay team. This carried over into my freshman year in high school until COVID cut our season short. I picked back up in my sophomore year; I was the only sophomore in my school running against the juniors and seniors in my district. I also have passion for football and currently playing cornerback and wide receiver for our varsity football team. I run 4.5 in 40-yard dash. The continual conditioning and strengthening I undergo will truly benefit me as I prepare for the upcoming track and field season. I aspire to run at the collegiate level and know that running in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the track field. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working runners and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible.
Ultimately, I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my parents proud.
