Growing up, I loved sports such as basketball and football, but these pale in comparison to the first sport I fell in love with, track and field. During the London Olympics in 2012, I saw Usain Bolt run for the first time. Seeing him pass everyone and win inspired me. That day I told my Dad that one day I want to be like Bolt and compete in the Olympics.
As the son of a retired Army Lt. Colonel, I learned the value of sacrifice and hard work first-hand watching my father’s commitment as a dedicated soldier and my mother’s support for him and our family while working as well. Military family life also showed me the importance of teamwork and respect.
My parents have taught me to always put God first, work hard and believe in myself and no matter what obstacles are thrown my way, I can achieve my dreams. The sky is the limit!
