I began running track since I was in second grade. I ran all through middle school and high school. One of the best things that happened in my high school career was advancing to the State Championship meet as a Freshman running the 4x1 relay. By competing in the State Championship meet, I set a goal to become stronger and to return each year. Every year since, I have competed at the state level for both indoor and outdoor seasons.
My next goal was to make it to the National Championship meet. In my heart high school track was the sport for me, so I took advantage of it and trained extremely hard to compete. In my Sophomore year, I was awarded a plaque for Conference 11 Champs for the 4x2 indoor relay team. This achievement made me work harder at and eventually it would pay off and Nationals would be much closer to obtain. I ran cross country my junior and senior year to help improve my endurance. I also strength train three days a week to help shave seconds off my time. In my junior year, I missed Nationals twice on two different indoor and outdoor relay teams . From then I knew the following season I would have to be mentally and physically prepared.
As a senior and a member of the 4x2 relay team, we broke the high school record and advanced to National competition the same day. I've also qualified for states in each of my individual events. Throughout my track career, I have learned how much teamwork and leadership means on the track team. I've grown smarter and wiser by attending practice and listening to my coaches. I'm looking for a team and an educational program that will be beneficial to me and others. I have the work ethnic, leadership, and dedication to better myself and encourage my teammates to strive harder.
