Personal Statement
Hi,
I am a first-year track athlete going into my senior year of high school. I am confident that come freshman year, I can be a strong addition to your program. For reference I am a 17-year old who is 6'5" and 210 lbs. In the weight room I can full-clean 265 lbs and squat 335 lbs. I have a vertical of 36 in. and a broad jump of 121 in. (both standing start).
During the season, I achieved personal bests of 10.86 in the 100m and 21.96 in the 200m winning both our league and district championships - ultimately finishing 2nd in the 200m and 5th in the 100m at the state championships. As an anchor, I helped our 4x400 qualify for state and our 4x100 finish 3rd. During this summer I qualified for and competed at both the USATF regional 13 and national Junior Olympic championships in both the 100m and 200m.
This year I fully uncovered my passion for track while only some of my true potential. During this upcoming offseason, I am very excited to realize more of my potential through sprint-specific training which will help me become a far more dominant and versatile sprinter - something I did not do before this season as running track was somewhat of a last minute decision (which I am very glad I made). I am fully confident that next season I will be able to greatly improve my times in both the 100m and 200m and also become a strong 400m runner.
During my high school career, I have maintained a strong unweighted/ weighted GPA of 3.92/ 4.28 as I am a very motivated student. On my first (and only) time taking the SAT, I scored a 1510 with scores in math and reading of 770 and 740 respectively. At the start of my junior year, I created a merchandising business as well as a USA-made clothing brand. In all areas of life, I embrace change and challenge - striving to overcome whatever obstacles lay in between me and my goals.
