I have been running track and cross country since 6th and 7th grade. For me, running just started as an extra sport that I did along with the sports I had played previously in the fall and spring such as soccer and baseball. Eventually, I gave up soccer to focus on cross country. However, my junior year of high school was my first year where I seriously focused on track and gave up baseball and I showed tremendous improvement by doing so. I have come to seriously enjoy running more than I ever have before, and it has legitimately became something that I enjoy doing and a hobby, rather than a sport that I force myself to do.
As a student, I strive to challenge myself as much as possible, even if that does mean added stress to my life and a real struggle with my academics. Throughout high school I have consistently taken higher level classes and as many classes as I can take to prepare myself for college and eventually my profession. I take pride in my studies and try to be the best student I can be and a role model for many. Additionally, I am very active within my school and various different clubs and programs that can boost my leadership. I am a member of the Ohio-WV Youth Leadership Association in which I am a very active member of, holding numerous state positions throughout my time. Also, I am a member of the Future Business Leaders of America where I have held the position of historian in my chapter for the past two years. Other extracurriculars include National Honors Society, Hispanic National Honors Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes which I help lead. I am very participative in both my honors societies. Overall, my participation in these programs has helped me develop many skills as a human that other students may not have, and I plan to be just as participative in college as well. A primary trait I have picked up is leadership which I can bring to any program and help build up a team culture with it.
In conclusion, as an athlete and a student a strive to be the best I can be by training and studying very hard throughout my time. I will always work hard and buy into what my coach or teacher is telling me, and throughout my high school years that has worked to make me a tremendous human and athlete.
