I am currently a Junior at Wheeling Park High School with aspirations of continuing my journey as a competitive athlete and student at a University that is highly competitive and provides a diverse environment with cutting-edge facilities. I would like to pursue an undergraduate degree in Biology or Chemistry prior to advancing my education into the medical field. My strong work ethic and commitment to achieving top scores in both academics and athletics would make me a perfect fit for a competitive program.
I am differentiated from others in my class for a number of reasons. First, I am exceptionally competitive both on and off the field. In my eleven years of schooling, I have maintained straight A's and taken as many honors and AP courses as permitted. I am driven by the desire to learn the most I can from every course that I take in school and I enjoy taking on opportunities that will help me learn on my own including Kumon, Masterclasses, syruping workshops, a babysitting certification class as well as Babble for enhancing my language skills (Spanish). Although running is my passion, I also enjoy a variety of sports including basketball, soccer, water skiing, swimming, biking, snow skiing and ping pong. I am an active member of the Wheeling Park High School Key club, Vineyard Church, Chess Club, Math Field Day team as well as proud member of the Drug Free Club of America.
I have been on the Varsity Cross Country and track team since my freshman year. As the captain of the cross country team, I work closely with each teammate during both the on and off season. Keeping everyone working year round, especially in the winter, was essential to us being Runner-Ups at the 2021 West Virginia state meet in both XC and track.
As much as I strive to be a talented athlete and academic, it's more important to me to be seen and known as a compassionate person who cares for and about others. I enjoy volunteer coaching underprivileged children in basketball camps and teaching both c anhildren and adults to swim. I enrolled and passed Certified Lifeguard Training at fifteen years old to obtain the necessary skills and certifications in case I ever find myself in a situation where life-saving measures such as CPR or First Aid are required. This summer I look forward to volunteering at the Energy Express in addition to my summer job, taking summer classes and attending WV Boys' State. The Energy Express is program offered through Americorps. The Energy Express program helps underprivileged children avoid hunger and bridge literacy learning gaps that can occur during the summer when their is time out of the classroom.
