Personal Statement
I am a 6'0" junior running cross country for Ashland High School in Ashland, WI. I have four varsity letters in cross country and qualified for the Wisconsin State Cross Country Meet my sophomore, junior and senior years, finishing 17th at the state meet my junior year and was a 6th medal winner my senior year. I also have three 1st Team All-Conference Awards. The ideal institution for me is one where I can run varsity cross country and make an impact (big or small) for a team. I am a dedicated, hard working individual and strive to compete at a higher level of play than high school. Although I enjoy athletics with my whole heart, I want to go to a place with a good biology / pre-medicine program to help me achieve my goals in life. I want to find the right balance between school and athletics. I am looking for a college to help make this balance happen. In addition to working toward achieving my academic and athletic goals, I have also done a lot of community service hours working with both senior citizens and youth in my community. I have had the opportunity to attend several leadership conferences and I am involved in other co-curricular activities such as the Math Quiz Bowl Team. I am involved with Teen Court, Faith in Action (helping senior citizens with needs), and coaching youth soccer, baseball and hockey teams. I have attended H.O.B.Y. (Hugh O' Brain Youth Leadership) both at the state and international levels which is a youth leadership program for sophomores in high school. I work part-time and referee hockey games in the winter and ump baseball games in the summer. Thanks for your time.
