My goal is to run track and field in college. I want to learn more about the sport and how I can personally improve. I want to be part of a team that pushes and supports each other to be their best and succeed. I am very competitive. I enjoy playing strategy games with my family and learning the fundamentals of the games so I can win. I am a dual sport athlete, playing soccer and running track. Soccer has taught me a lot about teamwork and the importance of everyone contributing individually. I really enjoy running the relays and helping the team score points.
My grandpa and sister were both sprinters after high school. My grandpa ran the 100 and 200 for the Quantico Marines in the early 1950s. My sister ran for the University of Colorado Boulder in 2012-2016. My Grandpa and my sister both inspire me. I am sad that I never got to see my grandpa compete but I got to see my sister compete in both high school and college. My sister and I both went to Edgewood High School and I am proud that both of us hold school records in the 400. At Boulder my sister set the school record for the 400 taking 3.5 seconds off her high school personal record. She inspires me to see how far I can take my track career.
In addition to track and field, I am really interested in academics, especially in math and science. I took accelerated math (algebra 1-2, geometry) as well as honors classes (chemistry, pre-calculus, physics). I have also taken an introduction to python class at Edgewood College and will take a physics class there my senior year. My senior year I will also be taking AP calculus and AP statistics. I know that math and science give me a lot of opportunities in college and my future career.
