Dear Coaches and Colleges,
My name is Will Spann and I am from San Diego, California. I am 17 years old and a Junior in high school. I currently play club at Coast Volleyball Club where I am a Middle-Blocker for Fiapo 17-1s. I have played volleyball for about 4 years now, first starting on Coast 14-1s and then to the 15-1s and 16-1s teams. I go to school at La Jolla High School where I have also played for the Men’s Varsity Volleyball team for two years now. Over the summer of 2020, I made the USA Volleyball High Performance A2 group.
I enjoy school a lot and see the importance of academics when it comes to entering the next chapters of my life. This year I am taking 2 AP courses, 2 Honors courses, and 1 Mesa College course. I am proud to say I ended my Junior year Semester 1 with a 4.8 GPA . I recently got a 1330 on my SAT, and plan to take the ACT/second SAT this summer.
I work 20 hours a week at a remodeling and design company based in San Diego. My role is as a Product Consultant- where I do admin work, creative direction for the department, and meet with clients. I am also beginning to be a part of the Friends of the Coast Walk in La Jolla, California, where the aim is to restore a path along the ocean. I am a part of Pandemic Academics as well, a tutoring service created through my school.
For several years, it has been my ultimate goal to play volleyball in college. The competition living in Southern California is intense, so I have created an apt schedule to become the best player I can hope to be. By going to a private trainer for the past 3 years several times a week, I have been able to grow as an athlete and stay in shape for the sport. Training and practicing for me does not stop there. In addition to this, I go to weekly one-on-one lessons to grow outside of traditional practices. I truly believe that putting in the most effort, the most time, and the most dedication will be the driving force of my success.
