I persevere. I work very hard. I overcome obstacles. I set goals and achieve them. When I started sixth grade, I couldn't read or write because I have dyslexia. Then I was given a chance to learn in a specialty school with teachers who believed in me, but I had to do the work. And I did the work. In three years I went from kindergarten to 10th grade level in reading and math. I went back to public high school and have earned a 3.8 GPA in college prep, AP, and STEM classes. I have a future in design, engineering or food science because I was given a chance and I did the work to excel academically beyond anyone's imagination. When I couldn't read, I believed I would end up in juvenile hall. Now, I know college is my one and only path.
And, just like I now know I will go to college, I know I will play volleyball in college. My first year in club, my 16s team won a bid to BJNC 2019 in Dallas, and that experience sealed my love and commitment to volleyball. I am naturally athletic, and have tried many sports. I run fast, and I ran the 800m and 1600m during my sophomore year when indoor sports in Northern California were shut down due to COVID. I am very good at pick-up basketball and skateboarding. But I am the most passionate and happiest when I am playing volleyball. I love the flow, the rotations, the math, the energy, and the teamwork of the game. And I am determined to do the work to play at the highest level possible.
I jump. I jump high. Even though I lost nearly a year and half playing time because of the pandemic, I am committed to accelerating my skills and game. I will be fantastic middle or right side specialist for you and your team. I hope you give me a chance to show you I have the verts, the grit, and the passion you need on your team.
