My Name is Dante Pulphus and I am a student at Back Of The Yards College Prep which is located on the southside of Chicago. I have been playing volleyball since I was in 4th grade. I remember watching high school volleyball on my phone thinking to myself that I would never know how to play volleyball like them or do a overhand serve like them but when I a graduated from middle school in 2017 I couldn't wait to the volleyball season started which was in the spring of 2018. On my first day at tryouts I was saying to myself how I don't think I would make a Varsity team because they play like college players. But Tryouts lasted 3 days so the 4th day we would find out what team we made. I woke up on March,8,2018 ready to go to school after I went to the long 3 days tryouts. When I got to school I received 5 text messages from my friends saying "OMG Congratulations you made the varsity team." That was one of the best things that could ever happened to me because as a freshman on the varsity volleyball team made me feel like I was a junior or senior. But going into my first game I was very nerves because I expected to not know how to play at the level the opposite team was playing at but when I served the first ball and I scored I said to myself "lets take it from here Dante." I showed up to every practice and every game to show that one day I would be the captain and show great leadership and bring home a championship. I also played excellent conference games which lead us to win our conference and move to a higher one this year and my goal for the next 2 years I am here is to move all the way to the top so when people see Back of the yards name they know who we are.
