John Jaworski '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is John Kyle Jaworski.   I am a senior at Naperville North High School and have been around volleyball my whole life.  I became interested in playing volleyball because both my mother and father played Division 1 volleyball.  My great grandmother played with Bertha Lucas and my grandmother also played on the top team in the Midwest against players like Flo Hyman.  You can say volleyball runs deep in my DNA.

I am very competitive and driven. One example of this was when I was in fifth grade.   I wanted to break the school record in the 100 meter dash.  I had trained and remained focused for 3 years and in 8th grade,  I broke the school records for the 100 meter and 200 meter which stood for over 20 years.  That same track season I took 1st place in the triple jump and led my team to 2nd in state.  Earlier that same year, I was captain of my 8th grade volleyball team and led them to the state championship, where I was named MVP.  

I have learned that it requires dedication and commitment to achieve important goals.  I always try to encourage my teammates to succeed and I lead by example.  Whether it is coming in early or staying after practice to do extra training, focusing on my nutrition, or giving positive words of encouragement to my teammates, I do what it takes to improve.  I believe my personality and determination is the reason I was the captain of the top 16's Sports Performance club team and have been a captain of the top teams there for six years.  My Sports Performance teammates and I earned the Open Silver medal at the BJNC in 2017.  I also was captain of the Naperville North High School JV volleyball team as a freshmen.  In the 2017 season, I was the starting setter/hitter on the Naperville North Varsity volleyball team and was given Honorable Mention in our conference.   In 2018, I was their starting OH and was named to the All Conference 1st team, and the All Area Team,  with 322 kills and 250 digs.  I was also starting OH, Captain and Team MVP in 2019 and All Conference 1st Team and All area Team.  I am 1st in Career Aces,  2nd in Season Aces and 2nd in Career Digs at NNHS.  Named to 2019 AVCA Senior Watch List.
