Sports and I have a long history since I can remember. Volleyball in particular is the sport that captured my attention. I saw myself invested physically, emotionally and mentally. 5 years ago my journey set off to play at a collegiate level one day. From the beginning I listened attentively to my coaches guidance, attended variety of local and national camps and clinics, as well as participating in weekly adult tournaments during the off season to improve my skill set and continuously grow in the sport of volleyball. I landed myself in Maryland Volleyball Program. Currently I lead the MVP 16 team as captain and as an Outside Hitter. Playing in many tournaments and teams had put me in different positions that I have had to quickly learn and master to help my team in whatever position they need assistance in. The impact of my versatility has put my team in positions to secure bids in order to compete in the open divisions at Nationals the last five years.
Another reason I pushed myself in the sport of volleyball is because I know that with my skillset I can set myself up with a good school. Currently as a Sophomore at Springbrook High School, I take advantage of the AP and Honors classes that are offered. Education and Collegiate Sports go hand in hand so I believe it makes sense to continue to challenge myself educationally as well as physically.
The road of a Student-Athlete is not the smoothest road. It has a lot of challenges that can really be dejecting, but when I get on the court and help my team win, I know that this road is the path for me to be on.
