Hi i'm Keon Smith, i'm a libero class of 2023. Being a volleyball player is very important to me but being a student comes first, some of my collegiate achievements include honour roll from grade 9 to 11 and I plan on working hard to maintain in my senior year. When I graduate I plan to attend university where I plan to graduate with a bachelors degree in biochemistry, or biology. I want to play at the highest level of volleyball, I've played volleyball for 5 years and have a great passion and am fully dedicated to the game.
The time I have spent playing the game against different teams and having to battle through adversity or even as an assistant coach at my high school has benefited me as a player on and off the court. In my primary position libero I bring a positive attitude and use leadership skills, and knowledge I have picked up as a player and as an assistant coach for 3 of my high school teams to be successful. In my 2022 club season I spent my time as a six rotation middle serving, playing defence, setting (when needed), blocking and hitting. In the 2022 club season I helped my team win a provincial (state) championship and place fourth at Canadian Nationals as a six-rotation middle. In the 2022 high school season as a setter and captain I lead my team to a third place finish in the LOSSA (conference) championships.
I never want to settle, I always strive to be the hardest working player in the gym and never let a ball touch the ground. Improving all the time is very important to me as a player, In addition to practices I constantly weight train to get stronger which benefits my game, and I seek out all the training opportunities I can, spending some time with university coaches in the form of 1 on 1 sessions to further improve all aspects of my game.
I am looking for a school where I can realize my full potential both in my athletic and academic career.
