My name is Caleb Bosveld. I am 17 years of age, 6’1” tall, and play OH/S for Ancaster Lions RISE of the OVA.
It has always been a goal of mine to play sports in college. Earlier in my life, I played both basketball and volleyball, but as of late, my focus has shifted to volleyball. Playing at the intercollegiate level would be a dream come true for me.
Although sport has been a big part of my life, I also pride myself on things I do off the court. I enjoy volunteering at my church, with numerous programs such as Sunday School, VBS, basketball camp, and more. These volunteer opportunities have been valuable experiences for me and have helped shape me into the person I am today.
Academically, I am proud of the improvement I made from my freshman to sophomore year. In my freshman year, I barely achieved the honour roll (80% average). In my sophomore year, I comfortably attained the honour roll and even accomplished double honours for one semester (90% average). This academic improvement points to my work ethic and drive. I have seen similar improvements on the court.
Some of my best strengths off the court would include my interpersonal skills, communication skills, time management skills, and organizational skills. Of course, these skills can also translate to high performance on the court. On the court, I can be described as a leader, or a spark plug. I am mentally tough, and thrive in pressure packed situations, such as late in games or in high stake games. Due to much beach volleyball experience, my serving and passing has improved exponentially.
Overall, you can expect me to be the first one in the gym, and the last one out. I aim to be personable, and easy-going, while not sacrificing my competitive nature. My goal is to play intercollegiate volleyball, and I am motivated to achieve that goal.
